NANOEMCA Secondments at CEMHTI CNRS: Advancing Materials Characterization Skills and Strengthening International Collaboration

27/10/2026
As part of the NANOEMCA project (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-SE-01), researchers and specialists with complementary scientific and professional backgrounds are participating in secondment activities at CEMHTI CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) in Orléans, France, during October 2026. The activities bring together Assoc. Prof. Andreea Mădălina Pandele from the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (Romania), Prof. Yesid Eugenio Santafé Román from the University of Pamplona (Colombia), Dr. Ahmed Malek Djaballah from CNRS (France), and Eng. Cristian Beceanu from BENE Cercetare (Romania). The secondments take place under the coordination of Lavinia Balan, CNRS Research Director, fostering knowledge exchange and international scientific collaboration.

The activities are closely aligned with Work Package 2 (WP2), which focuses on the synthesis and characterization of functional organosilane precursors and metal complexes, as well as the development of skills in advanced materials characterization.

During their stay at CEMHTI CNRS, the participants are strengthening their expertise in advanced characterization methods and broadening their understanding of the relationships between material structure, composition, and properties. The training includes exposure to X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis DRS), fluorescence spectroscopy, and photocatalysis-related concepts and methodologies, in line with the project’s objectives and the complementary expertise available within the consortium.

Beyond the technical training, the secondments provide an opportunity to exchange scientific knowledge, develop new collaborative perspectives, and strengthen the links between partner institutions. By bringing together researchers from different disciplines, institutions, and countries, NANOEMCA promotes the transfer of expertise and the development of complementary skills that support the project’s broader research objectives.

These activities contribute to the implementation of WP2 by strengthening the partners’ capacity to synthesize, characterize, and understand functional compounds and metal complexes, while supporting the development of an integrated and collaborative European and international research network.
