As part of the MSCA Staff Exchanges NANOEMCA project, University of Zaragoza secondees ARAID senior researcher Dr. Filomena Silva and early-career researcher Mr. José Antonio Casasnovas are undertaking a secondment at MEDISEN in collaboration with BITAM.

Working on the project’s WP2 and WP3 activities, they have characterized periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO) precursors and used blueberry extract to synthesize silver and zinc nanoparticles and incorporate them into PMO structures. The team will further study these materials’ properties and antimicrobial potential, while exploring applications in biosensors, catalysis and food packaging. The secondment also strengthens cooperation and knowledge exchange among the project partners.
